My favorite News Personality

I’m not really familiar with news personalities and the like, but I can say that what really made an impression on me was none other than Chiara Zambrano when I met her over a year ago during the Pinoy Media Congress.

One could immediately tell that this woman was someone who had a lot of experience within her field, reporting and documenting people’s lives across the nation and seeking the truth even in the most dangerous places that many would not dare to go. From the conflict of local fishermen in the West Philippine Sea to the far reaches of bomb-filled explosions in Mindanao — she definitely knows the know-hows and the intricacies of what’s happening in our country from behind the scenes.

And yet, when she stepped down from the stage and her time to coach us was over, her presence disappeared. Not in the sense that you couldn’t see her physically, but rather her aura made you think that she was just another civilian, a normal bystander.

A humble nobody.

She did not carry herself with something like the other people with her reputation would have, with pride, with their heads always held high. And In that moment, I knew… this woman was spectacular. Not only was her bravery and determination something to aspire to, but her modesty teaches us more than anything about what being a truth-seeker should strive at.
